888poker’s XL Series winding down with Main Event set for this weekend

888poker has been hosting the Winter XL Series, with online poker players taking part in a ton of gaming action at the site. This week, the Main Event will take place, ending the series with a huge event over a two-day time frame.

The event begins on January 30, at 6 pm GMT, and will see Day One end with the final table set with the remaining nine players. Day Two will take place on January 31 at 7 pm GMT. Poker fans can catch all the action of the final table by tuning in to the Twitch channel of 888poker. The streaming footage will be on a 30-minute delay.

Details of the Main Event

The big tournament has a relatively small buy-in of $250 and offers a three-hour and fifty minute late registration time frame. Players have a chance to rebuy three times in the window. There is no add-on provided. Amateurs and professional players are expected to take part in this tournament. It will be interesting to see just how large the field actually is once registration closes.

Every online poker player competing will start with 30,000 in chips and this gives each individual 300 big blinds. The blinds will increase every 12 minutes and will start at 50/100/12a. The tournament includes a huge buy-in of $500,000.

With the buy-in at $250, we could see the Main Event prize pool guarantee increased if enough players register to compete. In 2020, the same event did not reach its goal and an overlay of $75,000 had to be paid.

Earn Your Way to the Main Event

If you are in an area where you can compete in the XL Winter Series, there are ways to earn a seat at the Main Event. 888poker is offering freerolls each day with a variety of options on offer. Just head to the Main Event lobby and click on the satellite tab.

From there, you will find details on all satellite options that are connected to the Main Event. Options are very affordable including $33 satellites with guaranteed seats and of course, freerolls. By taking part in the lower buy-in or free options, you can claim a seat far under the $250 buy-in price.

You can also opt for the Mini Main Event, which is also set for this Sunday. The tournament has a low buy-in of just $33 and features $50,000 in total prize money. Players will have a 20,000 starting chip stack and late registration is only offered for three hours and thirty-five minutes. Blinds in this event will start at 40/80/10a.
